Application for License to Officiate

A priest may not serve in any way within the limits of a Diocese other than the Diocese in which the priest is canonically resident without a license from the Ecclesiastical Authority of the Diocese in which the priest wants to officiate - in the case, from the bishop of the Diocese of Tennessee.

A priest requesting a License to Officiate in the Diocese of Tennessee must first meet with Bishop Bauerschmidt, complete the LTO Application Form and submit to a background check. The bishop has sole authority in the Diocese of Tennessee to grant or deny LTO.

The License to Officiate is granted for one year, renewable annually, and upon expiration of the license, the priest shall cease immediately to officiate in the Diocese of Tennessee.
