The Episcopal Churchmen of Tennessee - encompassing the Dioceses of Tennessee, East Tennessee and West Tennessee - gather every year for their Annual Conference of the Episcopal Churchmen of Tennessee, a weekend of worship, fellowship and recreation at the DuBose Conference Center in Monteagle. The first gathering was in 1947. Now more colloquially known as “the Laymen's Conference,” the gathering has grown to be what is believed to be the largest gathering of laymen in the Anglican Communion. All three diocesan Bishops are present to lead Eucharist services and enjoy fellowship with the laymen. Guest speakers offer programs, and the laymen enjoy Saturday afternoon recreation such as golf, tennis, and hiking in the Monteagle and Sewanee area. A list of officers may be found here.
The next and 71st Episcopal Churchmen Laymen's Conference will be held August 18-20, 2017 at DuBose Conference Center, Monteagle, Tennessee.
