About the Bishop

A bishop is the chief sacramental officer of the Episcopal Church. Diocesan bishops are the chief overseers for their dioceses, entrusted with safeguarding the teaching and faith of the church. A diocesan bishop is required to visit all churches within the diocese at regular intervals, preside over Annual Convention and assume administrative oversight.

The Rt. Rev. John C. Bauerschmidt is the eleventh bishop of the Diocese of Tennessee. The bishop’s biography may be accessed here.
