DESCRIPTION:St. George’s\, Nashville opens their In Excelsis Series with the passionate and refined playing of renowned organist Dr. Damin Spritzer\, performing on our new organ\, Buzard Op. 48. Dr. Spritzer is Area Chair and Associate Professor of Organ at the University of Oklahoma\, and she has performed with historic churches and instruments in Iceland\, Germany\, France\, Brazil\, Italy\, Israel\, England\, and Norway. She has been honored to contribute to regional and national convention performances and lectures for the American Guild of Organists in Austin\, Kansas City\, Denver\, Dallas\, Columbus\, and Seattle. Dr. Spritzer will remain at St. George’s to accompany the St. George’s Choir and Choristers in Choral Evensong on Sunday\, September 10.

This concert is free. Donations in any amount are gratefully accepted to support future concerts in the Evensong Series. \n\n\n\nJackson Jay Kidder is a bassist\, vocalist\, and composer based in Chicago. He recently released his debut EP Standing By in March 2022. SUMMARY:Immersive Performance: Regeneration with Rod McGaha
DESCRIPTION:Acclaimed artist Rod McGaha will showcase his original compositions with a live band\, dancers\, photography\, and video work from his series Regeneration. This powerful work pays homage to the way in which black communities continue to grow through the power of storytelling\, history\, and art in the wake of the pandemic. \n\n\n\n$20 suggested donation. A reception will follow. Rod McGaha will also be exhibiting at the Frist Art Museum (September 15 – December 31\, 2023) as part of the first-ever major museum presentation of Black collage artists\, entitled Multiplicity. This performance at Christ Cathedral is an extension of that work. More information here.

DESCRIPTION:Bearing Witness: An Artist’s Approach to Goodness\, Beauty\, and Truth \n\n\n\nUnited Adoration and Good Shepherd invite you to an in-person Multi-Arts Retreat September 29-30! This retreat will be a sacred space gathering artists of multiple disciplines for a dedicated time of collaboration\, creativity\, fun\, and renewal. We’ll explore the artist’s role as witness\, looking at the world in its beauty and ugliness with what Flannery O’Connor calls “the eye of truth.” This is a multi-arts retreat designed to foster interdisciplinary collaboration. If you’re a musician\, songwriter\, painter\, poet\, crafter…bring whatever materials/instruments you need to create your art! We’ll provide the space\, inspiration\, and nourishment throughout the retreat. A Bible and a journal are also recommended.
