DESCRIPTION:St. George’s\, Nashville is thrilled to welcome the work of Makoto Fujimura to the Bradford Gallery this fall. In addition to being a contemporary artist whose distinctive “slow art” has been featured in galleries and museums around the world\, Fujimura is a speaker\, writer\, and advocate. Though he once considered these paintings too dark and incomplete for any of his exhibitions; however\, he recently discovered a “brightness to their countenance.” The exhibit\, titled My Bright Abyss: Paintings and Prints\, explores the living hope of Christian faith amongst the darkness and lament that can be found in everyday life: quite literally seeking the light amongst the dark. Join St. George’s\, Nashville for the opening reception with a special presentation by the artist on Thursday\, October 12 from 6:00 to 7:30pm.

Dr. Spritzer will remain at St. George’s to accompany the St. George’s Choir and Choristers in Choral Evensong on Sunday\, September 10.

DESCRIPTION:Seeing Christ in the Darkness is an excellent collection of the world-class prints of George Rouault\, one of the most important printmakers of the 20th century. The graphic art in this exhibition\, done at the height of the artist’s skill\, shows how deeply he identified with people’s suffering and\, indeed\, saw within this darkness the salvation of Jesus Christ. DESCRIPTION:EFAC-USA is a gathering of Evangelicals in the Episcopal and Anglican churches for networking\, prayer\, Bible study\, worship\, and mutual encouragement in Gospel ministry\, both as lay and ordained ministers of the Gospel. To this end we hold conferences that are themed around one of our five goals. This year’s conference\, “Gospel Grammar: Liturgy\, Ministry\, and Life\,” June 15-17 at St. George’s\, Nashville\, seeks to help meet our goal of fostering liturgy and worship consistent with the Gospel. It will feature musician\, author\, and liturgist Dr. Zac Hicks along with a number of others who are working towards this goal in their own contexts. Register for the conference at EFAC-USA.org.
