St. George’s, Nashville is thrilled to welcome the work of Makoto Fujimura to the Bradford Gallery this fall. In addition to being a contemporary artist whose distinctive “slow art” has been featured in galleries and museums around the world, Fujimura is a speaker, writer, and advocate. Though he once considered these paintings too dark and incomplete for any of his exhibitions; however, he recently discovered a “brightness to their countenance.” The exhibit, titled My Bright Abyss: Paintings and Prints, explores the living hope of Christian faith amongst the darkness and lament that can be found in everyday life: quite literally seeking the light amongst the dark. Join St. George’s, Nashville for the opening reception with a special presentation by the artist on Thursday, October 12 from 6:00 to 7:30pm.
