St. George’s Church, Nashville, is hosting a free concert from the NPO on Tuesday, October 8, at 7:00pm, with celebratory fanfares by American composers Aaron Copland and Joan Tower. These two contrasting fanfares will surround one of the most performed contemporary orchestral works, Blue Cathedral by Pulitzer Prize & GRAMMY winner Jennifer Higdon. On the heels of their celebratory 20th anniversary season featuring Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, they are excited to close out this opening concert series with the next musical step in orchestra history — Brahms’ Symphony No. 1.
