The History of Voting Rights in America
January 19, 2023 @ 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Thanks in large part to Dr. King’s leadership, the Voting Rights Act was signed into law by President Lyndon Johnson in 1965. St. Bartholomew’s Church will host a talk on Thursday evening, January 19, at 6:30pm in Wallace Hall to hear historian Brad Perry, long-time teacher of African-American studies and co-founder of The Public, discuss the history as well as the current state of voting rights: how that relates to the ongoing struggle for racial justice in our country and the role that the church can play in this effort.
